Nebraska Extension’s Regional Food Systems Initiative (NeRFSI) exists to support everyone working to produce, process, distribute, sell, and eat food in our state. During this unprecedented time, our local food system is more vital than ever. We want to support producers to do what they do best--creating exceptional foods for Nebraskans--by expanding your marketing reach. Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska is a local food marketing, promotion, and education program that connects Nebraskans with food and farms near them!

With restaurants, schools and other markets already closed or closing, and with many farmers markets rapidly changing to pick-up only structures, online sales and web presence is becoming essential. In the last two weeks, BFBLN’s website has had twice as many hits as normal. People are looking for ways to find local food! As a BFBLN member, producers will receive the benefit of expanded reach, technical assistance, and additional promotion.

NeRFSI is offering scholarships to up to 100 Nebraska farm businesses to become BFBLN members for the 2020 season. This one time opportunity is first-come-first-serve, and the deadline to sign-up has been extended to May 1, 2020
